Your free tummy tuck consultation will be conducted with one of our experienced patient co-ordinators and cosmetic nurses. They will then arrange an appointment for you to meet with your tummy tuck Surgeon prior to your abdominoplasty, who will explain which option is best suited to your requirements and how you can expect to look following your tummy tuck procedure.

The Procedure for Your Tummy Tuck

Both tummy tuck and mini-tummy tuck procedures are performed under general anaesthetic, meaning that you will be asleep throughout the procedure and will feel no pain. Tummy tuck surgery requires an overnight stay in hospital following surgery.

A mini-tummy tuck is a less invasive alternative, which involves removing fat from directly below the navel. This significantly reduces your recovery and healing time and leaves a smaller and less visible scar.

Recovery from Your Tummy Tuck

After your tummy tuck procedure you will require rest until the effects of the anaesthetic have passed. General painkillers can be used if your tummy tuck procedure results in any pain.

You are not permitted to drive following your tummy tuck procedure and will need to be driven home. Your cosmetic nurse will advise you on your healing time and arrange a follow-up appointment with your surgeon, typically about 1 week after your tummy tuck procedure.

FAQ

Will I have scarring after my tummy tuck procedure?
Depending on the choice of your operation; tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck, your scarring will vary. You will have scars where the incisions were made and these are not normally in view. The scars will heal and fade with time, which will vary from person to person.

Will I lose any feeling?
Immediately after your tummy tuck procedure it is common for you to feel an altered sensation in the lower part of your abdomen. This is usually a temporary feeling and does not last.

When will I be able to see the results?
The immediate results of your tummy tuck or mini tummy tuck will be obscured by bruising and some swelling but your Surgeon will be able to indicate where to expect improvement. Any bruising and swelling will subside within a few weeks and you will be able to see noticeable results which will further improve over the next few months.
